Nicaragua Mission Trip

The 2018 Nicaragua mission and service team trip to La Flor is set for March 10 through March 17. This will be our fifth trip to La Flor and we are just as excited as ever to go and share God’s love with this wonderful, but struggling community.

Our focus in 2018 will be on building green stoves or "cocinas verdes." This is something that every family still using traditional, open fire cooking technology wants and needs. Green stoves vastly improve the health both of the people using them and of the local environment. Each stove costs only $450.00, but makes a world of difference.

Keilman Trust Travel Funds

All travel funds for 2018 have been distributed. Applications for 2019 travel funds will be accepted starting August 1, 2018.

The mission work that you engage in must be a sustainable, foreign Christian mission. We ask that everyone going on the mission experience be endorsed by their Session or their church board. Priority for funds will be given to individuals and groups from churches in PSEI. Preference is given to smaller teams going for longer than one (1) week. All completed applications made for funding requests submitted by the deadline of November 30 will be considered.

We understand that international travel is difficult to plan for a year in advance, so we are willing to work with you to satisfy the Trust requirements, but you must be in contact with Pastor Andy Sonneborn well in advance of the November 30, 2018 deadline. Specific guidelines are here.

Our congregation's committee will prepare the 2019 budget to be approved by the Trustee some time in December 2018 or early January 2019. We strongly prefer that you email your applications to shelbyvillekeilmantrust@gmail.com. You can also mail your application to:
    First Presbyterian Church
    201 North Chestnut Street
    Shelbyville, IL 62565
    attn: Keilman Trust Committee.

If you mail your application, we request that you notify the church office to expect your application via mail. If you have any questions, please contact First Presbyterian Church at 217-774-3624 or by email at shelbyvillekeilmantrust@gmail.com.
