Monday Musings... On a Wednesday?
I have been trying to figure out what to say in my final Monday Musing as the Presbyter for Congregational Care, so for inspiration . . .
I looked to television:
The Last One (Series finale title of Friends)
Goodbye, Farewell and Amen (Series finale title of M*A*S*H)
Not quite right, so I looked to literature:
“The scar had not pained Harry for 19 years. All was well.” (Last line of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows)
So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish (Title of book 4 of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy “trilogy”)
Still not what I was looking for, so I moved on to music and movies for inspiration. And after all that, none of them felt right.
Then it became clear that the only thing to say was: Thank You!!
Thank you for the opportunity to serve with you. Thank you for the opportunity to worship with you. Thank you for the opportunity to cry and mourn with you. Thank you for the opportunity to laugh, cheer, and celebrate with you.
The past six years serving together in the Presbytery of Southeastern Illinois have been a joy and blessing of the highest order. I cherish my memories of serving with you.
Yet, as we are reminded in Ecclesiastes 3:1, “For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.” As this season of my ministry comes to a close, please know that you and the presbytery are in my prayers as you continue to do amazing things in service to the Lord and your neighbors.
May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you today, tomorrow, and always.
Grace and peace, Bill Rev. William "Bill" McLean, II Presbyter for Congregational Care Presbytery of Southeastern Illinois
