COMMITTEE ON PREPARATION FOR MINISTRY
The responsibilities of Committee on Preparation on Ministry (CPM) include handling the documentation that is required to track an individual through the process of becoming an Inquirer, moving to Candidate, and accepting a call for ordination.
The Presbyteries' Cooperative Committee on Examinations for Candidates (PCC) of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) has released an updated edition of the Handbook on Standard Ordination Examinations. The chief purpose of this revision was to include in the Handbook a new "Guide to Key Terms Commonly Used in Exam Questions." They developed this Guide to create a common understanding between test takers and the readers who evaluate exams about the expectations relating to instructions (e.g., "cite," "compare," "discuss," etc.) and forms of ministry work products (e.g., "annotated outlines," "blogs," "lesson plans," "narrative presentations," etc.) called for in exam responses. In addition to including the guide in the Handbook, it has also been added as separate resource in the "Preparing for the Senior Ordination Exams" course on the denomination's Equip training site (https://equip.pcusa.org) to facilitate ease of reference. The Guide is also being incorporated into reader training materials.
The Handbook is available as a free download from links on the denomination's primary website (http://www.pcusa.org/exams) as well as in the "Preparing for the Senior Exams" course on the Equip site (in the "General Information Relating to All Exams" section of the course). The latest edition can be identified by the release information on the cover of the PDF document
("June 2021 / 3.1").
